About Us
The GMSP will undertake developments and activities on behalf of the 10 Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs) and report back to them regularly. Every LSCB has a nominated member on the Greater Manchester Safeguarding Partnership. Key partner agencies also have at least one nominated member, including the Police, PCTs, Probation Service, Coroner’s Service, Youth Offending Services and Social Care Services. The Strategic Health Authority and Greater Manchester Police Authority are co-opted members. For all partner agencies there will be benefits from a consistent interface with Greater Manchester authorities leading to an increase in commonality of approach which will result in efficiencies and economies of scale.
‘Greater Manchester’ in this context refers to 10 areas, as below. Click on the links to view their LSCB webpage:
Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan.
The inaugural meeting of the Partnership was 1 December 2008 and the Partnership currently meets quarterly. For details of meetings of the Partnership and other GM networks click here.
For more details the terms of reference are available for download here. These are currently under review – due for publishing August 2011.
The Partnership is currently chaired by Andrew Webb and has a dedicated Co-ordinator- Kate Wood. For any comments or queries please contact Kate at kate.wood@stockport.gov.uk.
