Children can be subjected to abuse by those who work with them in any and every setting. All allegations of abuse or maltreatment of children by a professional, staff member, or volunteer must therefore be taken seriously and treated in accordance with this procedure.
This procedure is based on the framework for dealing with allegations of abuse made against a person who works with children, detailed in Chapter 6 and Appendix 5 of Working Together to Safeguard Children 2006 and Handling Allegations’ of Abuse made against those who work with children and young people practice guidance 2008.
