1. Introduction
To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people it is important that all employees and volunteers are recruited within processes that meet the regulatory and legal requirements as identified through the following:
- Working Together to Safeguard Children 2006
- The Bichard Report
- Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education
- achieve ‘Effective’ status within the Self Assessment Tool (SAT) Quality Standards Framework.
The recruitment and selection process for all employees whether full time or part time should be transparent and show the commitment the organisation has to protecting young people, children and vulnerable adults.
Organisations should therefore use enhanced recruitment and selection processes to ensure that the right personnel are appointed who have the personal capacity and motivation to contribute to an environment and practice committed to the safeguarding agenda.
